Book Review: Playdate by Alex Dahl

I feel like every time I write a review for a thriller lately, I say how they are just getting better and better and Playdate by Alex Dahl was no exception. I'm thrilled to be one of the bloggers on the tour today, sharing my review.

REVIEW

Playdate had me gripped in it's clutches from the very beginning to the much anticipated end! Lucia goes missing after going on a playdate with a friend from school. Something so seemingly innocent that Lucia's Mum Elisa never expected the most horrific of outcomes. Little did she know that was the last time she would see her and then be plunged into every parent's nightmare as the race is on to find Lucia before it is too late.
Wow this was some intense reading. I'm sure you have heard of the Madeline Mccann case and the horrendous situation her Mother Kate went through (and is still going through) and Playdate drew similarities between the two. It shone a microscopic light on the horrendous reality of this nightmare and it made me want to keep my nieces closer than ever!
What made this really stand out from other thrillers for me was that we got the abductee and abductor's point of view pretty early on in the story. I find this very rare in thrillers and something I absolutely love as I feel like you get to know more and I found myself racing towards these parts, particularly from Lucia's point of view. It wasn't just these POV's that really added to the suspense and pace but a mystery character who we get tiny snippets of and wonder how they are involved and what exactly Elisa is hiding.
A hugely suspenseful, heart pounding and page turning read. I could not put this one down!
