Blog Tour: Soul of the Sword by Julie Kagawa
Having read and loved Shadow of the Fox with its unique world building and fantastic storyline, you can imagine how much I was looking forward to reading the second book in the series Soul in the Sword and I'm very happy to say it didn't dissappoint.
REVIEW
We were almost straight back in to where we had left off from the epic ending in Shadow of the Fox and I was quickly reminded of my love for Yumeko once again and her inability to understand metaphors which I find so endearing. Julia really is excellent at creating such an immersive and mesmerising world that no sooner had I started reading this, it was the end all too quickly.
The character development, relationships, friendships and the good and the bad were all fantastic. I don't know how Julia does it but each character we meet plays a key role in the overall story and we get introduced to even more yokai and demons - not all of them ones you want to meet!
Just like in Shadow of the Fox, you literally have no way of telling which way the book is going to go. Our main characters get themselves into all kinds of peril and you just have no idea how they are going to get out of it.
If you loved the first book you are definitely going to like this one. I would say it was just as good as the first if a little darker, which was to be expected, but I now cannot wait until the third book. I need to know what happens.
