If you read Simon's last book The House, you are in for another treat with The Liars Room and if you haven't read either, hopefully my review will persuade you too.
REVIEW
I do so love a twisty, real-time thriller and The Liars Room was both of these. Broken down into hours of time, this is one fast paced, gritty thriller that is impossible to put down.
I was a huge fan of Simon's book, The House last year as it managed to feel so different to any other thriller. I then of course couldn't wait to get my hands on The Liar's Room and I think I may have enjoyed it even more than The House. Set in one room over a matter of hours, Simon sets the scene for a tense and claustrophobic thriller. When Susanna quickly comes to the realisation that she was right to feel unsure about her new client, it is more than far too late. The secret she has been hiding for seventeen years is about to get relived again.
This was a hugely addictive read. I find real-time thrillers some of the best as everything you are reading feels like it is happening right now, heightening the suspense. Having the setting in one room also means the focus is very much on the characters and Simon has crafted them so well. You find yourself analysing their every move and action and doubt begins to creep in about who is really in the wrong here.
I don't want to give anything more away than that as everything gradually comes out and I don't want to spoil it. This was so cleverly done, I couldn't tear my eyes away it was just too good.
Hugely addictive, really clever and another fantastic thriller from Simon!
