What to do when your home is stuck in a rut
When you have had the same design in your home for a long period of time it can get a little bit boring. I constantly want to update our home, but having a complete redecorate is sometimes time consuming. But there are quick, easy ways you can give your home a new fresh look without it taking up your evenings and weekends.
There are many redecorating tips to help transform your home and bring it some life and color, and here are just a few of them for you to try this month.
1. Create a gallery wall
If you have a large, blank wall space which feels boring and dull, you can take the time to fill it with lots of artwork and images that you love. You can use different sized frames and different shapes to create a wonderful and unique gallery wall filled with photographs and paintings that you love to look at. It will be a stunning feature and will be a talking point every time someone visits your home. You can also add mirrors as that makes the room look even bigger and brighter.
2. Put things on the coffee table
If you have ever visited a huge office building or a doctor’s surgery, you will know that they usually leave magazines and other items on a coffee table for people to browse while sitting downstairs. If you want to add a little flair to your living room and give people something to look at when they come over, you can buy things just for your coffee table. These can be candles, books, flowers, magazines, anything to make your coffee table stand out.
3. Jazz up your bookshelf
My bookshelf is my pride and joy at home, it's currently in what we call our little room, but I want to put more up around the house. If you want to jazz up the space in your living area and make it feel more modern you can have some fun with the bookshelf and rearrange your books. Think about arranging them by size, by genre, or by color. You can actually create a whole rainbow across your bookshelf and it will look amazing! I am yet to do that so I have added Pop Vinyls and other little bits to my bookshelf.
4. Fairy lights
If you really want a quick fire way to perk up your home and make it look magical in the evenings, you can bring battery powered fairy lights into every room. They can be hung over your bed at night, on the mantelpiece in the evening, and even in the bathroom for a relaxing spa feel. These are honestly a wonderful thing to bring into the home to make any salve pop, I can't get enough of them.
5. Paint bold colors
If in doubt, paint it! If all those things aren't enough, get your paintbrush out! It will instantly make it feel more interesting, you can change the atmosphere of the entire room by painting one of the walls a bold color. Think yellow, orange, red, blue… the possibilities are endless! Simply painting one room will make a huge difference to the space and it will breathe new life into your home.
