Create the perfect reading nook

We can’t all have huge libraries in our homes, but it is still nice to try and create the perfect spot in which we can get cosy with a good book. A reading nook will give you the chance to escape the rest of the world, curl up with your favourite novels, and while away an afternoon or longer. As nooks are so small and discrete, you can place yours anywhere in your home and size doesn’t have to be an issue here. Even if you live in a tiny apartment, you will still be able to find the perfect space to utilise for reading!

Here are some great tips that will help you make yours your favorite space at home.

Consider Which Area

First of all, you need to think about the best area for your nook. You just need to find a great corner or spot for a chair that is well away from all the main traffic in your home. If you have children and want somewhere peaceful out of their way, you might want to place your nook in your bedroom. Alternatively, living rooms make great areas for reading corners as these rooms are often so spacious, that a nook won’t stand out in any way.

Check The Lighting

There needs to be lots of natural light in your reading nook during the day so that you don’t strain your eyes while you are reading. To help as much light flood into your reading corner as possible, it’s worth hanging some light made to measure blinds or curtains so that your window treatment doesn’t block out too much sunshine. So that you can continue reading well into the evening, be sure to add a stylish lamp that will brightly light up the chair in which you read.

Add A Side Table
You will need a surface to place your cup of tea onto or on which you can display a pretty vase full of flowers. So, it’s worth adding a side table to your reading nook. This doesn’t need to be too large, or else it might take up the whole space! Just a small corner table or little coffee table should be fine.

Make It Comfy
In order to spend hours getting lost in books in your nook, you need to make it as comfy as possible! And that means you need to add lots of cushions. It’s also worth adding a blanket or two so that you can wrap up warm in the colder months.

Personalise It
You might also like the idea of personalising your little reading nook. To do this, consider adding some family photos or custom cushions and blankets. Anything that will help your nook feel like a very special place will be a very welcome addition indeed!
Once you have your own little reading nook set up and ready to go, you might not want to do anything more than read your books. It will certainly encourage you to become a bookworm!
