Blog Tour: The Chosen Ones by Howard Linskey
This is my first Howard Linskey book and the fourth in the DC Ian Bradshaw series. You don't have to have read the first three as I discovered but I know want to go back and read them all. I have got my love back for thrillers again!
The Chosen Ones is probably one of my worst nightmares, girls have been disappearing off the streets and taken to an underground prison where they won't ever see the light of day again. This is what Eva finds herself facing, but the police have no leads and no idea where Eva and the other girls could have gone. DC Ian Bradshaw is assigned the case and he recruits his long-term investigative journalist pals to help him solve this unsolvable mystery.
This was so gripping. The minute I started reading, I couldn't put it down, the different character viewpoints keep up the fast pace and there is certainly never a dull moment. The dynamic duo that is Ian, Helen and Tom work really well together and as someone who has not read the first books in the series, the hints to the back stories of each of them made me crave to know more, so I will have to go back to the first three.
I really thought I had this all sussed out half way through the book and was so disappointed but I got it wrong so many times and the ending was a complete surprise. The author doesn't just focus on the main event either, there are quite a few side stories that help keep the pace and keep you on your toes.
The only small criticism I have is that I thought some of the narrative felt a little stilted and sometimes the explanations for things were a bit superfluous, but the main story line so was intriguing, it was easy to get passed this.
Gripping, twist and a proper page turner, look out for more from Howard Linskey!
