After reading Katerina's debut The Teacher earlier this year, I knew Katerina was an author whose books I was going to eagerly anticipate the next one. When I heard The Secret was being released, I was very eager to read!
This story starts with undercover cop, Bridget Reid. She is hiding a secret and it's a secret that her life depends upon, and then she is missing. As DS Grey and DS Miles get further into the case, more secrets and either could have possibly have imagine emerge.
Once again this was such a compulsive read, meaning that I finished it pretty quickly, needing to know what would happen next. The Secret becomes so addictive, with so many twists and turns that there is very little room to figure anything out for yourself, so each revelation came as such a shock for me. This was also why I thought this story was so great as you just cannot even begin to see where this story will go.
If you read The Teacher, you know you are going to need a bit of strong stomach for this, but even if you haven't do not let this put you off as it is such a great read. Also if you have not read The Teacher, I think you can get away with not having to read that one first, although it will give you more grounding into the characters and I highly recommend that you do!
This was a tough read, as it shows the darker side of humans and what goes on outside of the law, but I still could not stop reading. I do definitely need to read something a bit more lighthearted after reading this though. Katerina definitely doesn't hold back in her storytelling.
I liked how with the second book we got to know Imogen Grey more, some of her barriers came down and find out more about her backstory. We also start to learn more about Adrian Grey I am very keen to read the next one. Katerina does know how to leave you wanting more.
This was another stand out thriller for me, no one comes close to Katerina's storytelling. I am so looking forward to the next book.
Another compulsive, addictive read from Katerina Diamond.
