Review
Dear Committee Members is a short novel written in a series of letters by one professor Jason Fitger at liberal arts college, Payne University. He writes a series of recommendation letters to various institutions, faculties and departments, recommending his students and other colleagues. Jason is not one to keep things short and to the point, we learn really quite a lot about Jason and his life in these series of letters.
I really really wanted to like this; I was really intrigued when I saw that it was a story written in letters, but sadly I just could not get into it.
I found Jason quite an annoying man and could quickly see why he was unfavoured by many of his correspondents. He is very quick to voice his opinions and I think a lot of the time he hindered his students progress in getting the jobs he had been asked to write them a recommendation.
As well as not liking the main character very much, I didn't really feel like there was much of a story to go with it. My mind would wander off quite a lot and to be honest I'm amazed I managed to finish it, as I didn't find it interesting.
I read this last year and thought it was hilarious. That guy could not get a clue! Glad to read your thoughts on the book.
ReplyDeleteI think I completely missed the funny side lol, but thinking back to it, I can see how it was funny. Thank you for stopping by :)
