Review
Polly and the Puffin is an incredibly cute book! This tells the story of Neil the Puffin who we first met in Jenny Colgan's story The Little Beach Street Bakery. I loved this little part in that book, so producing the story for children was a wonderful idea.
It is hard not to fall in love with Neil the Puffin. He is so sweet and the friendship that he and Polly develop is so heartwarming. The illustrations also really make this book. They are so vivid and with them all being in black and orange, it was a brilliant touch to the puffin theme. I read this out to my niece and she kept pointing at the pictures and was listening intently to the story as I read aloud.
What Jenny has also done really well is she teaches children that animals need caring for. They aren't like toys and puffin's especially cannot be pets, but they can be your friend in this case.
This is a truly charming and delightful read for children and adults alike.
