Review
The synopsis for The Snow Globe sounded really lovely and magical and I could not wait to start this short christmassy story.
Kylie Gray wonders into an antiques shop on a cold afternoon and it is there that she discovers a beautiful snow globe and she just has to get it, especially when the shop owner tells her the magical story behind it. What Kylie doesn't realise is that she could be in for a miracle herself.
This story started off really good, it was magical and full of christmas spirit and I was happily reading along. I thought it was going to be completely centered on Kylie, but the story also focused on her two close friends and what the snow globe did for them.
After Kylie's initial story, I felt that it was wrapped up far too quickly. I wanted to know more about her and the magic of the snow globe, but her part seemed to come to a sudden end and then we were onto her friend Suzanne. I actually could not stand Suzanne as a character, she was all about perfection and moving onto the next task rather than appreciating those around her. Her story did start to grate and I think her part was far too long. Kylie's friend Alison's story wasn't too bad, but like Kylie and Suzanne's they weren't very well developed and it just leaves you with lots of questions.
This was a nice Christmas read, but I think Sheila should have just focused it entirely on Kylie like the synopsis suggests. That way there hopefully would have been more story and character development and made for a more enjoyable read.
I've enjoyed the one Sheila Roberts book I've read and I liked the premise for this one but I don't love the split of focus. I think I'll skip this one. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYes sadly the split in focus didn't work in this :/
