Review
I very rarely read a book after watching the TV series/film, so I was quite intrigued to see how I would find reading the story of Broadchurch, especially as I like so many others was glued to the TV screen when Broadchurch was on. And I think it is safe to say that I thought the book was fantastic!
Even though I already knew what was going to happen I still managed to get completely absorbed in the novel. The author takes you on a more in-depth journey of what happened at Broadchurch, and I still found myself hoping that the ending would be different as it was still just as devastating as when I watched the final episode, if not more.
I think because I had watched the TV series previously I could imagine what was happening more clearly and not only that, Erin Kelly is an amazing writer! What she of course manages to do that the TV series couldn't, is really get into the hearts and minds of each of the characters. And not only that, their thoughts and feelings really tied in with the characters on the screen. Whilst reading I found that I was able to totally forget my surroundings and when I realised where I actually was and not in Broadchurch, it was like be wrenched away from all it.
Whether you have watched the TV series or not, the Broadchurch novel makes for incredibly compelling reading. You honestly will not be able to put the book down and it will feel like coming back from another world when you do finish.
Compelling, emotional and absorbing, Broadchurch keeps you on your toes.
