Dance Until Dawn by Berni Stevens

Synopsis

At 25, West-End dancer, Ellie Wakefield should be having the time of her life. The only problem is, ever since waking up in a leaky cellar belonging to three hundred year old vampire, Will Austen, she's been very much dead. And to make matters worse, she's since found that an aversion to blood and a fear of the dark aren't very helpful - especially when you're a fledgling vampire.

William James Austen has fallen hard. He's spent the last year loving Ellie from afar and now he's finally able to be truthful about who and what he is. As the most powerful and revered vampire in London, he's used to getting what he wants. But this time, Will might just have bitten off more than he can chew.

Review

Wow I absolutely loved this! I had obviously read the synopsis, but had no idea just how much I was going to enjoy it!

I must admit I was a teeny tiny bit skeptical about this as it was back in the world of Vampires and I wasn't sure how it was going to stand out and be different. But I am more than happy to say it was a fantastic Vampire story in its own right and I liked being back in fiction world of Vampires after given it a wide birth when Vampire fiction exploded.

Berni writes brilliantly. Within the first few lines I was completely hooked and every single page was unputdownable.

I loved Ellie as a character and really felt like I stepped into her shoes whilst reading this. She was a feisty, strong and knew her own mind and I don't think Will quite realised what he was taking on when he turned her into a Vampire! Oh and speaking of Will! Sigh! Wow what a man/vampire! A new book boyfriend for me definitely!

Along with Ellie we learn that the Vampire world is a dangerous one; they aren't just a danger to humans and this made for some very gripping, heart stopping reading!

The story is mostly told from Ellie's point of view, but I really liked that we got snippets of what Will was thinking through his diary entries. I love getting all main characters points of view.

I really really really hope their is a sequel to this, as even though there is no real cliffhanger at the end, I felt like I could have continued reading. I want to go back to Ellie and Will's world.

A gripping, absorbing and unputdownable book. I cannot wait for more from Berni!

5/5

  1. Laura, thank you so much for that lovely review :) You have really made my day.

Just between us *grins* there are more books in the series too. There's a sequel – with a wedding – and a third book featuring Stevie's romance with back up from Will and Ellie!

Thank you for featuring my book on your lovely blog.
